On Saturday, August 27, 2016 at approximately 6:28 am, the Carlstadt Police Department received a report of an adult male Center Street resident unconscious and not breathing. Officers Jonathan Rood and William Pangaro responded to the residence and observed the patient lying on the ground with bluish colored mouth, hands and feet.

The officers suspected the patient had overdosed with heroin and administered Naloxone in an attempt to revive him. A single dose of Naloxone was successfully administered and the patient began to breathe on his own. Paramedics and members of Wood-Ridge Fire Department BLS responded and transported the patient to Hackensack University Medical Center for further medical treatment.
